Passengers with a handicap

Barrier-free travel

The Rhaetian Railway does everything it can to make travelling by train as pleasant an experience as possible for people with impaired mobility. For example, by offering reduced fares and providing direct assistance.

Concessions

If you draw a pension from the Swiss Federal Disability Insurance, receive a helplessness allowance or have a subsidised guide dog for the blind, you can obtain a 1st or 2nd-class GA travelcard at a special concessionary rate. The competent disability office will provide you with the necessary confirmation. Wheelchair users who do not receive a disability pension can obtain a concessionary-rate GA travelcard on presentation of a doctor's certificate. And if you are unable to travel without assistance, your travel companion and/or guide dog is entitled to travel free of charge. All they require is an official accompanying person's card.

Assistance

In collaboration with the SBB, the Rhaetian Railway offers assistance to people with restricted mobility.  As a rule, mobility assistants are available at support stations to help with boarding or alighting from trains. If you have any questions or would like to request this service, please contact the SBB Call Center Handicap on 0800 007 102. The registration must be made at least 24 hours before the trip.

Please note

Disabled persons require a valid ticket for travel, including on routes operated without a train guard. However, in such situations, unaccompanied persons who are unable to use the automatic ticket machines because of their disability will not be required to pay a supplement, but only the corresponding normal fare.
