Lower Engadin rail replacement service 11 March - 6 October 2019

Due to renovation work at the Giarsun Tunnel and the Magnacun Tunnel, the stretch between Susch (from Sagliains) and Scuol-Tarasp will be closed for rail traffic from 11 March to 6 October 2019.

The transport of bicycles is limited during this closure. Virtually all vehicles in operation by Graubünden PostBus are equipped with bike carriers (capacity of up to 5 bikes). Additionally there are five bike trailers (capacity per trailer 10 – 15 bikes) in Scuol. Nevertheless, there could still be bottlenecks at peak times. Groups in particular should contact RhB or Graubünden PostBus in advance.

Information for rent a bike users: the rent a bike drop-off station at Scuol station will be closed for the total duration of the renovation work. It will be back in operation from 7 October 2019.

At the National Park Bike Marathon on 31 August 2019, there is a guaranteed transport of bikes by public transport.

Bicycle transport

You load your bicycle yourself into the RhB luggage car. Bicycles cannot be transported on trains marked with the appropriate symbol in timetables. Please note that there may be a shortage of space for bicycles on popular routes.

Self-service bicycle transport

Bicycles, e-bikes and similar items must be loaded and unloaded by the passenger. Access the luggage car via the pedestrian entrance and open the door by pressing or lifting the safety bolt when the train is not moving. Raise the safety bar too. Once the loading operation is completed, lower the safety bar once more and close the door. You are not allowed to remain in the luggage car while the train is moving. RhB staff will be happy to advise you and will also ensure your safety as you load and unload your bicycle. To ensure everything runs smoothly, please make sure you are at the luggage car in good time to load/unload your bicycle.

Useful information

Please note that bicycle tickets are valid on RhB, SBB, PostAuto post buses and various other transport companies such as the ZVV, the Zurich transport association. Each passenger is allowed to transport one bicycle. Please show your cycle ticket along with your normal ticket, without being asked to do so. Two tickets must be purchased for tandems and recumbent bikes. Bike trailers (max. 60 cm wide) count as a separate bicycle and require the purchase of a ticket. Bike trailers must be loaded empty. No cycling on the platforms! Please push your bike.

Self-service bicycle transport is not available for groups of ten and more people. In this case, you must reserve at least 48 hours before departure either at the station or by calling Railservice on +41 81 288 65 65 or by e-mailing railservice(at)rhb.ch. Bicycles can be dispatched as luggage from manned railway stations.
