Visual

Surselva region

Disentis Monastery is located between the source of the Rhine and the Rhine Gorge, with two buildings of interest: the monastery itself and the Monastery Museum. Nature lovers can hike along Lake Cauma by Flims. Those interested in architecture will enjoy relaxing in the famous thermal spa at Vals, designed by Peter Zumthor.

Visual

Viamala region

At the gateway to the famous Viamala Gorge you descend into the deep cleft in the rock. The waters in the mystical ravine offer a unique play of colours. Rock mills and the bridge built in 1739 leave a lasting impression. You can even walk right under the Rhine in the Roffla Gorge – thanks to a series of galleries cut into the rock in 1914.

Visual

Mittelbünden region

The Mittelbünden region is full of twists and turns and highly educational: those seeking adventure can sledge down into the valley between Preda and Bergün. And the Arosa Line has at least as many curves. It carries passengers from Chur to the popular holiday destination. People of all ages can learn fascinating facts about the history of Graubünden's railways on the Railway Adventure Trail Albula between Preda and Filisur or in the Albula Railway Museum.

Visual

Davos / Prättigau region

The RhB winds its way along the Landquart River through the Prättigau region on its way to Klosters and Davos. In St. Antönien you can hike along the old Walser trail. The elegant span of the Salginatobel Bridge near Schiers links the two sides of the valley – it has «World Monument» status.

Visual

Engadin / St.Moritz / Valposchiavo region

From Muottas Muragl at 2,453 metres above sea level you can look out over all Upper Engadin and the Engadin lake plateau. Try genuine Puschlav spaghetti – or pizzocheri – at Alp Grüm, a unique restaurant that is only accessible by railway. A visit to the Casa Console Fine Arts Museum in Poschiavo is recommended – it has a fine collection of 19th-century Romantic paintings.

Visual

Engadin / Scuol region

The National Park in Lower Engadin provides a safe haven for ibex, chamois, deer and marmots. The park is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2014. You can find out everything you need to know about flora and fauna in the National Park Centre at Zernez. Let the RhB and Silvestri Bus take you to Livogno for a spot of duty-free shopping.
