A masterpiece presented clearly and concisely
The World Heritage Pass gives you free train travel on the World Heritage route. You can travel as often as you want on trains between Thusis and Tirano for two whole days – for example to the Albula Railway Museum in Bergün, the Cavaglia Glacier Garden or to Poschiavo for lunch.
The World Heritage Pass is the free pass for discoverers on the Albula and Bernina section of track that is now over 100 years old. In terms of civil engineering and routing, the UNESCO World Heritage Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes is a true masterpiece. Spend two or more days taking in the sights in three language and cultural regions. The most popular photographed subjects are the Landwasser Viaduct, helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda and the Brusio Circular Viaduct.

The Albula and Bernina section of track is a masterpiece in terms of civil engineering and routing. Landscape and railway blend into one: in wide radiuses, ingenious man-made structures punctuate rugged valleys. The Landwasser Viaduct, the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda and the Brusio Circular Viaduct all stand testimony to the early, pioneering days of the railway.
The Albula Railway Museum in Bergün takes railway fans on a journey into the past. A simulator lets visitors drive the legendary Crocodile locomotive along the Albula Line themselves. Railway enthusiasts and families will be fascinated by the old stamps, films and models.
The Albula Valley is dominated by engineering structures. The Railway Adventure Trail Albula leads from Preda to Bergün, then on to Filisur. Over its three stages you get a close-up view of viaducts, mountains and a roaring mountain brook. Information panels provide background information on the UNESCO World Heritage route.

Along the famous track to pure excitement on wooden runners: that's what the Preda/Darlux – Bergün sledging adventure holds in store. After the train has spiralled its way up the mountainside, the descent by sledge can begin: six kilometres from Preda to Bergün and four kilometres from Darlux to Bergün.
The highest point on the RhB is situated 2,253 metres above sea level. The watershed between Lago Bianco and Lej Nair is also the language frontier between the Romansh-speaking Engadine and the Italian-speaking Valposchiavo. The Bistro Albergo at the railway station was renovated in 2013 and serves tasty snacks at teatime.
Reaching the border: the little Italian town of Tirano is a customs post and the southern point of departure of the Bernina Line. The pilgrimage church of Madonna di Tirano dominates the romantic Old Town. The Italian way of life is reflected by the palazzi and ice cream.
