Zügen Gorge

It's not just railway passengers that are fascinated by the Zügen Gorge. In similar fashion to the Rhaetian Railway line, the bike trails snake their way along the top of the imposing ravine towards Wiesen and back. Due to Wiesen's mild climate, the route is often already open in early summer.

Advice for Self-service bicycle transport

Points to note when loading your bicycle on the Rhaetian Railway and PostBus:

  • The easiest way to load your bike is to enter the baggage car through the passenger door and then open the loading door from inside by lowering or lifting the safety catch.
  • Do not open the door until the train has come to a standstill. After opening the door, raise the safety bar and load or unload your bike. Please note: the safety bar must be lowered again as soon as you have finished loading or unloading.
  • Please inform the Rhaetian Railway train staff where you intend to unload your bikes so that they can assist you in making sure you unload your bikes safely. It is important that you are well organised as a passenger. Take your bike to the bike platform or baggage car in plenty of time to ensure it can be loaded and unloaded quickly.
  • During the summer season, most post buses travel with practical bike racks attached to the back of the vehicle.
  • If there is no bike rack at the rear, your cycle can be transported on board the bus itself.  Please note: show consideration for the other passengers.

On some Postbus routes, reservations are required for carry-on bikes or the transportation of bicycles may be restricted. Details can be found in the relevant field on the timetable. In the case of Engadin Bus and the Chur town buses, cycles are transported on board the bus only if there is sufficient space and the passengers are not inconvenienced.

Note: The RhB provides a cost-effective and reliable service for transferring your luggage from hotel to hotel and from hotel to railway station or vice versa. Hand your luggage in at the hotel reception before 9 a.m., and you can collect it on the same day at your destination hotel or railway station. More information.
