Anyone travelling on the Rhaetian Railway is immersed in a masterpiece of history, technology and landscape. RhB trains wind their way through the Alpine panorama on 385 kilometres of narrow-gauge track. A third of this track is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A masterpiece that is admired all over the world.
More than 90 per cent of the RhB network was built by railway pioneers before the First World War. One fifth of the tracks run through or over bridges, viaducts and tunnels steeped in tradition. And a third of the network is more than 1,500 metres above sea level, where the air is clearer and the view is more expansive.
