What started out with the Flims Rockslide is now a unique natural backdrop: over a period of 10,000 years, the Rhine has pushed its way through the rock between Ilanz and Reichenau. The result is a gorge that is quite rightly known as the Swiss Grand Canyon.
The bizarre geological formations surrounded by old pine trees fascinate train passengers, hikers and river rafters from around the world. Discover the Ruinaulta at your leisure! There is a dense network of hiking trails, diverse bike tours and attractive picnic areas waiting to be visited in the forests and along the Vorderrhein River.
