The magic of the mountains or vibrant city life? The oldest town in Switzerland offers both. Picturesque lanes and snow-covered peaks, modern shopping centres and unspoilt natural beauty, trendy restaurants and interesting museums. That's simply Chur: the first city of the Alps.
Savour the pleasure of gliding elegantly through the Engadin on board the unique Gourmet Train. The broad sunny valley amidst the mountains of Graubünden is one of the most fascinating areas on this Earth. Where else do idyllic villages alternate with clear mountain lakes and unspoilt meadows and woods so harmoniously?

Elegance, style and class: St. Moritz is not simply a holiday resort. This is the place where Alpine winter holidays were born in 1864. Nowadays, fabulous restaurants and internationally famous hotels welcome guests from around the globe.
Even today, the 62-kilometre Albula Line is still considered a masterpiece in terms of railway engineering and routing. The RhB opened the spectacular section of track between Thusis and St. Moritz in 1903, after just five years' construction. The red train climbs over 1,000 metres in altitude – thanks to the Solis Viaduct, Landwasser Viaduct and the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda – without rack-and-pinion technology.
More information
The viaduct at Filisur spans the Landwasser Valley and leads directly into a tunnel. The construction of the three main pillars in 1901/02 was an outstanding architectural feat, considering that the viaduct was built using only two cranes and without scaffolding. This is the most spectacular landmark on the Rhaetian Railway and it has become famous the world over.
