Bernina Panorama Winter

With the best views at 2,253 metres above sea level

ショップ VISA, Mastercard, Diners, JCB, Postfinance

The Bernina Panorama Winter offer promises great prospects: admire the white winter landscape through the extra-large windows of the observation-car trains – for a surcharge of just five francs. Now you can discover the Engadin, the Bernina range and Valposchiavo with nothing in your way.

Unimpeded views of the Morteratsch Glacier, Lago Bianco or Valposchiavo: the highest railway line through the Alps snakes its way –without the aid of a rack-and-pinion system – up to the top of the RhB, Ospizio Bernina at 2,253 metres above sea level.

The panoramic cars offer unobstructed views out over a fairytale winter landscape with snow-capped peaks, glaciers and frozen brooks. The famous stretch of track between St. Moritz and Tirano has UNESCO World Heritage status. Alp Grüm, a unique restaurant that can only be reached by railway, is the perfect place for a midday break.

In winter from 31.10.2022 to 10.12.2022, the panoramic cars operate hourly in combination with the regional trains from St. Moritz and Tirano. The RhB advises you to book well in advance. Those travelling spontaneously can pay on board the train – providing there are seats available.

A fascinatingly different gift.

The spectacular view from Alp Grüm is just one of the highlights on the Bernina Line.

Albula/Bernina UNESCO World Heritage route

The Albula and Bernina section of track is a masterpiece in terms of civil engineering and routing. Landscape and railway blend into one: in wide radiuses, ingenious man-made structures punctuate rugged valleys. The Landwasser Viaduct, the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda and the Brusio Circular Viaduct all stand testimony to the early, pioneering days of the railway.

Visual

St.Moritz

Elegance, style and class: St. Moritz is not simply a holiday resort. This is the place where Alpine winter holidays were born in 1864. Nowadays, fabulous restaurants and internationally famous hotels welcome guests from around the globe.

Visual

Ospizio Bernina

The highest point on the RhB is situated 2,253 metres above sea level. The watershed between Lago Bianco and Lej Nair is also the language frontier between the Romansh-speaking Engadine and the Italian-speaking Valposchiavo. The Bistro Albergo at the railway station was renovated in 2013 and serves tasty snacks at teatime.

Visual

Alp Grüm

The view from here is unforgettable: the Palü Glacier, Bernina Range, Bergamasque Alps and all Valposchiavo. On the sunny terrace of the Restaurant Alp Grüm, the owner serves genuine pizzocheri – the legendary buckwheat noodles – made to his own special recipe.

Visual

Poschiavo

The picturesque village of Poschiavo is dominated by three towers: the Romanesque tower of the Catholic Church, the Baroque tower of the Reformed Church and the medieval tower of the town hall. The landlords of the typical Graubünden restaurants in the village take pride in their delicious Pizzoccheri. A glass of Veltliner will also stand you in good stead. Viva!

Visual

Tirano

Reaching the border: the little Italian town of Tirano is a customs post and the southern point of departure of the Bernina Line. The pilgrimage church of Madonna di Tirano dominates the romantic Old Town. The Italian way of life is reflected by the palazzi and ice cream.
