“Silver Thistle” autumn special

Day ticket for the whole of Graubünden

Acheter VISA, Mastercard, Diners, JCB, Postfinance

Swap the dreary daily grind for colourful moments and experience bright and beautiful autumn days in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. From 28 October to 8 December 2019, the day ticket will be available from as little as CHF 35 and valid in the graubündenPASS network.

How about a stroll through the Engadin with its golden larch groves and enchanting lake scenery? Along the way, you will continuously come across silver thistle, which used to be picked by locals before winter to ward off illnesses – such as the flu – and evil spirits. Nowadays, the delightful flower from the genus of flowering plants known as Carlina is protected.

Even food lovers will be in their element in autumnal Graubünden. Local restaurateurs serve hearty dishes of wild game and mushroom specialities, while big top-class restaurants invite guests to sample autumnal creations. Visit the outdoor hot tub in Scuol and enjoy the calm before the Christmas storm. Or how about pausing for a moment’s reflection in Peter Zumthor’s St. Benedict Chapel in Sumvitg? The “Silver Thistle” special opens up a wealth of new horizons.

Top experiences at a low price: With our leisure vouchers, you will also be able to enjoy the numerous attractive reductions and added extras offered by RhB leisure partners.

The “Silver Thistle” day ticket is available at all RhB railway stations, at the SBB railway stations Chur and Landquart, at major post offices, at the PostBus desk in Chur as well as from PostBus drivers.

The “Silver Thistle” autumn special lets you enjoy unlimited travel throughout the whole canton.

The Albula and Bernina sections are masterpieces of civil and railway engineering. Landscape and railway blend into one: in wide radii, ingenious man-made structures punctuate rugged valleys.

There is something to suit all tastes in the Surselva region between Reichenau and Disentis: the Rhine Gorge, Greina Plateau and Lake Toma are a genuine paradise for hikers and bikers.

Active relaxation is the order of the day in the Lower Engadin: go hiking in the Swiss National Park from Zernez, walk in the footsteps of children’s book character Schellenursli in Guarda and bathe in the soothing thermal waters in Scuol.

The journey gets off to a leisurely start in Chur. But the sedate trundle through the town is soon over as the red train suddenly begins to climb up into the mountains, where Arosa awaits with fresh mountain air, sunshine and a dose of humour.

The Prättigau region between Landquart and Davos is both gently rolling and at the same time wildly mountainous. Hikers, bikers, those with an interest in culture and those who enjoy the finer things in life will all find something to write home about here.

The Engadin attracts guests from all over the world. Sit back comfortably on an RhB train and explore the sun-kissed high valley in the most pleasant way possible.

Chur

The magic of the mountains or vibrant city life? The oldest town in Switzerland offers both. Picturesque lanes and snow-covered peaks, modern shopping centres and unspoilt natural beauty, trendy restaurants and interesting museums. That's simply Chur: the first city of the Alps.

Visual

Visual

Prättigau

The Prättigau region between Landquart and Davos is both gently rolling and at the same time wildly mountainous. Hikers, bikers, those with an interest in culture and those who enjoy the finer things in life will all find something to write home about here – coupled with true hospitality.

Visual

Engadin in autumn

Golden yellow larches and green Swiss pine line the broad slopes of the Engadin. Add sunshine and blue skies to create the perfect backdrop for a journey between Scuol and Samedan.

Visual

Visual

Valposchiavo

The valley in the southern Alps is a great place to enjoy lengthy hikes, leisurely strolls and fine regional specialities. Explore the historic heart of Poschiavo, centred around its pleasant piazza, and discover various aspects of the valley's history in one of the museums or the colourful "Spanish Quarter" built by returning emigrants. Soaking up the beautiful scenery at the Lago di Poschiavo makes a fitting end to a memorable trip.

Visual

Tirano

Reaching the border: the little Italian town of Tirano is a customs post and the southern point of departure of the Bernina Line. The pilgrimage church of Madonna di Tirano dominates the romantic Old Town. The Italian way of life is reflected by the palazzi and ice cream.
