The organised individual “Alpine Cruise” tour combines sights, nature and one of the most spectacular stretches of railway in the world to create a fantastic experience with countless highlights.
You travel on the world-famous rails of the Bernina Express, through the UNESCO World Heritage site, stop at the gates of the Swiss National Park and cross the impressive Rhine Gorge.
You decide for yourself whether to start your four-, five- or eight-day rail cruise in Chur, St. Moritz or Davos. The package comprises travel, overnight stays and luggage transport. The Alpine Cruise also gives you the luxury of being able to decide whether you want to relax or be active: enjoy the view from the comfort of the train or simply book your own individual experiences.
The most spectacular alpine crossing: linking language regions and cultures, the Bernina Express’s Tirano - Valposchiavo - St. Moritz / Chur / Davos / Landquart route follows a serpentine course without the aid of rack-and-pinion technology. Panoramic journeys through the UNESCO World Heritage landscape are a genuine treat. The Albula and Bernina sections are masterpieces of civil and railway engineering.
The Albula and Bernina section of track is a masterpiece in terms of civil engineering and routing. Landscape and railway blend into one: in wide radiuses, ingenious man-made structures punctuate rugged valleys. The Landwasser Viaduct, the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda and the Brusio Circular Viaduct all stand testimony to the early, pioneering days of the railway.
Ruinaulta is the name given to the monumental Rhine Gorge between Ilanz and Reichenau in the local Romansh dialect. You will see rare birds, white rock faces and bizarre geological formations in the Swiss Grand Canyon that can only be crossed on foot, by bike, train or boat.
The Arosa Line climbs 1,000 metres in altitude in just 26 kilometres – and has been doing so for more than 100 years now. The train starts by gliding slowly through the streets of Chur, before wending its way minutes later through the unspoilt landscape of the Schanfigg Valley. The Rhaetian Railway actually seems to hover 62 metres above the Plessur River on the Langwieser Viaduct.

Elegance, style and class: St. Moritz is not simply a holiday resort. This is the place where Alpine winter holidays were born in 1864. Nowadays, fabulous restaurants and internationally famous hotels welcome guests from around the globe.
Davos is the point of departure for the Glacier Express and Bernina Express. The highest city in Europe, famous for the diversity of sporting, leisure and cultural activities on offer, its healthy climate, ice hockey club and Spengler Cup, the Kirchner Museum and the World Economic Forum (WEF) or the fun freestyle scene on the Jakobshorn. Catch the Glacier Express Bus from Davos or Lenzerheide to connect with the slowest express train in the world!
The National Park in Lower Engadin provides a safe haven for ibex, chamois, deer and marmots. The park is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2014. You can find out everything you need to know about flora and fauna in the National Park Centre at Zernez. Let the RhB and Silvestri Bus take you to Livogno for a spot of duty-free shopping.
The Alpine Cruise can be booked for 8, 5 or 4 days with the variants from Chur / Davos / St. Moritz.
