Rhätia Pullman Express

Ideal trip for connoisseurs and romantics

Luxuriate in the lovingly restored Alpine Classic Pullman coaches as you travel on board the Rhätia Pullman Express from Landquart over Davos to St. Moritz – or vice versa. Roomy armchairs, small window tables and exquisite teak fittings make this train a work of art in its own right – and a must for everyone who loves nostalgia.

It's enough to set the pulse of any railway fan racing: the Crocodile engine drawing the historic train composition behind it between Landquart, Davos and St. Moritz.

In Landquart the cry goes up: "All aboard!". Then the trip in the luxurious saloon cars from the 1930s begins: through the Prättigau to Davos, Europe's highest town, along the romantic Zügen Gorge, over the famous Wiesen Viaduct and through the UNESCO World Heritage site. How about a stop at the Albula Railway Museum in Bergün? Then it's time to drink in the stylish charm of St. Moritz, the Alpine 'metropolis'.

The price includes rail travel and a glass of prosecco or orange juice in the Piano Bar carriage.

The Rhätia Pullman Express runs 2017 on the following dates:

Prättigau

The Prättigau region between Landquart and Davos is both gently rolling and at the same time wildly mountainous. Hikers, bikers, those with an interest in culture and those who enjoy the finer things in life will all find something to write home about here – coupled with true hospitality.

Zügen Gorge

It's not just railway passengers that are fascinated by the Zügen Gorge. In similar fashion to the Rhaetian Railway line, the bike trails snake their way along the top of the imposing ravine towards Wiesen and back. Due to Wiesen's mild climate, the route is often already open in early summer.

Davos

Davos is the point of departure for the Glacier Express and Bernina Express. The highest city in Europe, famous for the diversity of sporting, leisure and cultural activities on offer, its healthy climate, ice hockey club and Spengler Cup, the Kirchner Museum and the World Economic Forum (WEF) or the fun freestyle scene on the Jakobshorn. Catch the Glacier Express Bus from Davos or Lenzerheide to connect with the slowest express train in the world!

Visual

Wiesen Viaduct

Standing 89 metres tall across the Zügen Gorge, the Wiesen Viaduct is the tallest viaduct on the RhB. Hikers can admire this imposing structure close up because there is a footpath across the viaduct, which is also the starting point of the nature trail to Filisur.

Visual

Albula/Bernina UNESCO World Heritage route

The Albula and Bernina section of track is a masterpiece in terms of civil engineering and routing. Landscape and railway blend into one: in wide radiuses, ingenious man-made structures punctuate rugged valleys. The Landwasser Viaduct, the helical tunnels between Bergün and Preda and the Brusio Circular Viaduct all stand testimony to the early, pioneering days of the railway.

Albula Railway Museum

The Albula Railway Museum in Bergün takes railway fans on a journey into the past. A simulator lets visitors drive the legendary Crocodile locomotive along the Albula Line themselves. Railway enthusiasts and families will be fascinated by the old stamps, films and models.
