Reliably on time

Ensuring trains leave on time, have sufficient seats available and are waiting at the right platform: the Production division keeps rail traffic moving smoothly, which involves everything from developing timetables and managing capacities right through to planning the deployment of coaches, wagons and locomotives.

The Production division determines which items and numbers of rolling stock will be used on which stretch of line – and how many employees this will require. Availability, punctuality, safety, quality and cost-effectiveness are paramount in the transport of passengers and goods. Specialist staff in a number of different business units perform the relevant tasks.

The Network Planning and Operations Management team draws up timetables and ensures that staff and rolling stock are available. Two Operations units run operations at the local stations – one in the North, the other in the South. The Train Drivers have their very own business unit. The Production Development specialist unit supports the other areas and is responsible for the rail service regulations, as well as counting passenger numbers and running the IT applications.

The Rail Freight division organises the smooth transportation of shipments by train – thanks to competent planning, modern rolling stock and transshipment centres throughout the Swiss canton of Graubünden.
