An association is putting the fahrBAR (mobile bar) back on track

We are the Projekt fahrBAR (Mobile Bar Project) Association. Our goal? The restoration and conversion of a former RhB post carriage into a mobile bar. Find out everything you need to know about our unique venture in Graubünden here.

Verein Projekt fahrBAR, 13. April 2021

Who are we?

People from a range of professions – from apprentice to a 60-year-old IT expert – have come together to form this mixed team pursuing one common goal: the restoration and refurbishment of the WR-S 3823 into a working mobile bar. The Projekt fahrBAR Association was founded in 2014 by five railway enthusiasts. Now, we have more than 30 members who together give their all for this project.

An amazing life journey

If it could talk, our carriage would be able to tell tales of an impressive history at Rhaetian Railway. Originally, it spent more than 60 years as a post carriage on the Rhaetian Railway network. In 1981, it was converted into the Calanda brew carriage. From then on, it accompanied hockey fans to the games in Arosa and Davos and provided them with fresh beer on the way. After its time as a bar, it was used, among other things, as a jewellery shop, a “club” carriage and accommodation coach until it finally reached the end of its useful life. You can find out more about the coach’s history here.

The fahrBAR project

Shortly before it was due to be scrapped, the founder of the Projekt fahrBAR Association, Florian Huber, heard about the coach and decided to rescue it from certain “death”. We have been working on the refurbishment and restoration of the coach since 2014 to realise our vision of creating a mobile bar and, in doing so, preserving a coach so rich in history.

Will the fahrBAR soon be back on track? Help us with the restoration!
