Street View Rhaetian Railway

A world first for the UNESCO-listed Albula/Bernina lines of the Rhaetian Railway Google, operating in cooperation with the Rhaetian Railway, has for the first time anywhere in the world incorporated a railway line into its Street View service. The UNESCO World Heritage line denominated The Rhaetian Railway in the Albula/Bernina Landscapes runs from Thusis to Tirano, across the Italian border.

The images were recorded in October 2011, during a trip from Thusis to Tirano on a special three-wheeled trike adapted to carry a camera. This was then loaded onto a flatbed wagon of the Rhaetian Railway for the filming of the rail journey through the mountains.

The first set of images is now available online for all to see. Further visual material relating to the Albula and Bernina lines of the Rhaetian Railway will be uploaded over the coming weeks, until the entire route from Thusis to Tirano has been posted online. Visit the website for yourself, and «travel» on the UNESCO World Heritage line of the Rhaetian Railway via the screen of your computer or smartphone.
